Native Place

Native Place is a children's book. A book of stories that all connect to each other, but not linearly or chronologically. Family histories are made of layers that thicken differently depending on who in the family is looking back, at what age and through what degree of trust. 

This work began with the desire to explore and then depict my own family’s history as I wanted it to be seen, but my own sometimes transgressive presence within these stories have also redrawn and reimagined them. Thus time, place and history merge and get mixed up. Mediums tumble around as well, and I sometimes wander into photographs I was not invited to be in.
