Chaya O’ Chobi

Chaya O’ Chobi (Shadow and Image) is a research project that looks at the photographic life of Rabindranath Chatterjee, my grandfather. He was an ametur photographer who lived in Kolkata through the 20th century, focusing his camera on his family and friends. The resulting book looks at his work in the context of the changing city and country he inhabited, considering the often phenomenal changes he lived through, through the delicate and intimate portraits of his young growing family.
